MEXICO

NEW ZEALAND
The Poor Knights islands off the Tutukaka coast are a marine reserve. Sea caves, rock arches and channels provide encounters with stingrays and grouper, and even the occasional orca. BA flies to Auckland as part of a codeshare.
SICILY
A marine reserve for more than 20 years, Ustica off the north coast has some of the Mediterranean's best diving. Wrecks, rock canyons filled with sea fans and organ pipe sponges add colour and variety to every dive. BA flies to Catania.
SOUTH AFRICA
The reef system at Aliwal Shoal on the KwaZula Natal coast is famous for its ragged-tooth, tiger and white-tip reef sharks. The 'raggies' are there in large numbers during May-September. BA flies to Durban as part of a codeshare.
THE BAHAMAS
The Bahamas have shallow reefs, deep walls and blue holes, as well as several places to get close to Caribbean reef sharks. Andros, San Salvador and Nassau all offer good diving. BA flies to Nassau.
PAPUA NEW GUINEA
Sharks, dolphins, pygmy seahorses — even saltwater crocodiles — you never know what you will see in Papua New Guinea. These culturally unique islands attract divers interested in sunken WWII shipwrecks, as well as coral reefs and big fish.
