A winning formula
Racing driver Jean Jacques Bally speeds into view in the natty Gordini T15 (above).
Built in 1946 and looking every inch the classic racing car, the 1500cc four-cylinder once belonged to Prince Igor Nikolayevich Troubetzkoy, driver of the first Ferrari to compete in Grand Prix motor racing.
It then went on to have a rather dazzling career, taking part in a host of prestigious races and winning the Robert Benoit Cup in Nimes in 1947 with famous French driver Maurice Trintignant at the wheel.
Top gear
With its snarling, white-lipped radiator opening, the Eagle MK1 (left), also known as the Eagle T1G, is widely regarded as one of the most beautiful cars ever raced at top level.
Designed around a 3.0 litre Gurney-Weslake V12, the Eagle-Weslake broke records when it won the 1967 Belgian Grand Prix.
It remains, to date, the only Formula One victory for a car built in the US.
