Make your way to the most happening city in Florida this month

- Buy vintage at C Madeleine’s (13702 Biscayne Boulevard, Miami Beach, cmadeleines.com), the biggest thrift store in the world and a celebrity favourite.
- See Zaha Hadid’s Elastika installation in the atrium of the Moore Space (4040 NE 2nd Avenue, themoorespace.org) in the Design District, not to mention the high-school gates across the street, which Marc Newson designed.
- Pay homage to Barbara Baer Capitman, who campaigned to save the unrivalled Art Deco and Miami Modernist (aka MiMo) architecture on South Beach. For a real insight into her work, join one of the Miami Design Preservation League’s guided walks. Or take one of its self-guided iPod tours (mdpl.org).
- Check in to the newly opened Mondrian hotel (mondrian-miami.com) on South Beach. Or at least swing by to admire über-modish Dutch designer Marcel Wanders’ fabulous design.
- Feed the parrots on Jungle Island (parrotjungle.com), an 18-acre tropical theme park between Downtown and South Beach. It’s allowed – as long as you buy authorised seed to feed them with.
