The skis

This winter, Völkl is introducing the Grizzly – a wider ski with integrated binding and dynamic, power and cruise settings to suit varying conditions. The width of the ski offers more float on the piste, but will still carve on groomed snow. £750, snowandrock.com

The ski suit

Stella McCartney’s latest skiwear collection for Adidas is as understated and chic as ever, with its subdued palette and vaguely retro styling. The all-in-one suit in light clay is sure to win admiration on the slopes. Skisuit, £300, adidas.shop.co.uk

The knitwear

Bamford’s chunky-knit cashmere pieces, made using 100 per cent natural dye pigments, are perfect cosy après-ski wear. The men’s collection includes a cable-knit cream polo neck and the women’s range a waistcoat with a homespun feel in a gorgeous oatmeal colour. Waistcoat, £695, bamford.co.uk

The goggles

Idaho-based optical firm Smith Optics is known for its well-designed and technologically advanced eyewear. Its latest 1/O rimless goggles have interchangeable mirrored lenses to suit either bright or flat light. The design, which comes in matt white, red and a limited-edition black, also cuts down on lens fogging and has an extra wide strap for comfort. £149.95, snowandrock.com

The apres-ski jacket

Moncler’s stylish puffas have been a must-have for mountain-bound Europeans since 1952. Alongside its seasonal collection – which features high-shine finishes and soft, chocolatey colours this winter – it has launched Gamme Rouge. This de luxe range of jackets by Giambattista Valli, in silks and satins embellished with flowers or lace, fuses Valli’s catwalk style with Moncler’s signature sportiness. From £1,200, exclusively at Harvey Nichols, +44 (0)20 7235 5000

The sun cream

Effective sun protection is essential in the mountains and Sisley’s high-tech formulas are among the best. Its new Broad Spectrum Facial Sunscreen with SPF30 will protect skin from both UVA and UVB rays. As a bonus, it is also packed with moisturising shea butter, cucumber extract and essential oils of sage and marjoram to nourish and soften. £75, +44 (0) 20 7591 6380

The beauty treatment

In high altitude, wintry conditions or strong sun, the complexion can quickly become dehydrated. The latest addition to Aromatherapy Associates’ luxurious essential-oil-packed range will help revitalise damaged skin and soothe sore muscles, too. The Totally Enriched set includes a scrub to smooth and a rehydrating oil with ylang-ylang, geranium and vanilla to massage into aching calves. Finish with a layer of the delicious body butter. £85, aromatherapyassociates.com
