The new vegetarian tasting menus in some of the finest restaurants from the US to Spain are sure to delight
Organic is cool, seasonal is de rigueur, but vegetarian gourmands are still left with a raw deal when it comes to fine dining.
This is set to change as some of the world's finest restaurants have finally introduced veggie tasting menus – the seven-course meals that, up to now, have been strictly for meat-lovers. The best include Fleur de Lys in San Francisco (+1 415 673 7779, fleurdelyssf.com ), Buerehiesel in Strasbourg (+33 (0) 38 845 5665, buerehiesel.fr ), and the newly revamped Greenhouse in London's Mayfair (+44 (0)20 7499 3331, greenhouserestaurant.co.uk ).
And it's not just vegetarians who are being catered for. Vegans can indulge at Trotter's in Chicago (+1 773 248 6228, charlietrotters.com ), Parrot Cay in Turks & Caicos (+1 649 946 7788, parrotcay.como.bz ), and the hip new all-raw restaurant, Saf in London's Shoreditch (+44 (0)20 7613 0007).
Even the Spanish, are becoming veggie friendly with Valencia's new La Lluna (+34 963 922 146, lalluna restaurant.com) and Ana Eva (+34 963 915 369) located, appropriately, near the Jardin Botánico.
