Visitors to Miami Beach can now rival the locals in the beautiful people stakes, thanks to the arrival of Florida's first Cowshed Spa, part of the newly opened Soho Beach House. The spa is open to members and anyone staying at the Soho Beach House hotel, or anyone accompanied by a member.
Located just a few metres from the Atlantic ocean on Miami's Collins Avenue, the spa is a first for the British brand, masterminded by Nick Jones. It's the only Cowshed to offer yoga and fitness classes along with the very first Cowshed Blow Dry Bar — perfect for those in need of a helping hand fighting the frizz caused by Miami's high humidity.
The two-storey spa is divided into two very different sections; Cowshed Active houses the gym, while Cowshed Relax contains the five treatment rooms and Blow Dry Bar. Each section has its own soundtrack; in the cosy confines of Cowshed Relax, it's classical music and crashing waves, while Cowshed Active reverberates to the sound of pounding dance beats.
The spa offers facials by hi-tech skincare brand Skinceuticals in addition to the impressive range of Cowshed treatments. The signature treatment, the Cowshed Massage, is the perfect way to relax after a hard day pounding the Miami boardwalk. Comprising a deliciously firm full body and head massage, it finishes with a slathering of Sandalwood Foot Cream to rehydrate tired, sunburnt feet.
The five large treatment rooms — four single rooms and one double — perfectly reflect the spa's beachfront location with what can only be described as 'Miami beach hut chic' — think stripped wooden floors, ornate hurricane lamps and luxuriously thick rugs. The super-sized changing rooms are some of the largest around, featuring huge walk-in showers, spacious relaxation areas and some of the steamiest steam rooms you're likely to come across.
For those in need of some therapy of the retail kind, the spa also boasts a small retail space selling jewellery, beachwear and children's clothing, along with a Cowshed shop selling the full range of Cowshed products. Horny Cow Body Lotion anyone?
