THE PERA PALACE HOTEL, ISTANBUL
Agatha Christie spent countless hours here during 1926-32 and a key to her diary was found under the floor in her favourite room 411. Reopening on 1 September after a £19 million refurbishment, this four-star hotel overlooks the Golden Horn. British Airways offers four nights from £806 per person with free upgrade.* +44 (0)844 493 0758, ba.com.com/istanbul

BURGH ISLAND HOTEL, DEVON
Set on a private island off the South Devon coast, this Art Deco hotel can be reached on foot at low tide. Christie wrote Evil Under the Sun in a beach hut here. Doubles start at £275, including breakfast and dinner. burghisland.com

GREENWAY, SOUTH DEVON
As part of a £5.4 million restoration, the National Trust converted part of Christie's holiday home into a grand, five-bedroom apartment, filled with her furniture and ornaments, while The Lodge has been restored into a one-bedroom cottage. The Boathouse was the scene of the murder in Christie's 1956 Dead Man's Folly, which also features The Lodge. The Apartment starts from £792 a week, The Lodge from £378 a week. nationaltrustcottages.co.uk

IMPERIAL HOTEL, TORQUAY
Torquay was Christie's home town and Peril at End House and Sleeping Murder feature a thinly disguised Imperial. Torquay also celebrates the inaugural Agatha Christie Week (englishriviera.co.uk/agathachristie) during 12-17 September.
Doubles start at £180, room only. paramount-hotels.co.uk.

CORAL REEF CLUB, BARBADOS
Barbados's original luxury property was opened in the 1950s by the O'Hara family and still exists as a privately owned five-star residence today. Christie was seduced by its elegant beachside charms in 1956 and is thought to have based A Caribbean Mystery on her experience. British Airways offers seven nights from £1,949pp*. +44 (0)844 493 0758, ba.com/barbados

VENICE-SIMPLON ORIENT-EXPRESS
After Christie travelled on the Orient-Express in 1928, it became the setting of Murder on the Orient Express and, subsequently, the most glamorous train in Europe. You can still expect white-gloved stewards, wooden carriages, expertly put-together cocktails and some of the world's most extraordinary dinner-table views. One-way trips between London and Venice start at £1,595 per person, while day trips on the British Pullman start from £180. orient-express.com.
ht trip to Egypt from £2,695pp.
