Head to London's Trafalgar Square and Hyde Park (as well
as around 20 other sites across
the country), where big screens will be showing live coverage throughout the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Watch Ben Ainslie as he tries to win a fourth Olympic gold medal for sailing in the Finn class medal race on 5 August at Weymouth. There's a grassy cliff above the water — pack a picnic and some binoculars for an even better view.
Spot the stars of the Olympic marathons as they pound the streets of the capital. Although you need tickets for the start and finish on the Mall, you'll be able
to see much of the race for free
— a good spot is the steps of
St Paul's Cathedral. The women's marathon is on 5 August, the men's on 12 August.
Check out the route of the Triathlon cycling and running, which winds from Hyde Park out to Wellington Arch and Buckingham Palace — choose a spot and get comfy for some free action. The women's event is on
4 August, the men's on 7 August.
The routes for the walking events will be similar to the marathon, finishing at The Mall. There's the men's 20km on 4 August and the
men's 50km and women's 20km on 11 August.
