London: Kanaloa

While Cheryl Cole has been vigorously wooing the nation with song, Girls Aloud band mate Sarah Harding has been plying them with rum at a new London bar, Kanaloa.

The Polynesian love-child of Harding, DJ boyfriend Tom Crane and the founders of Mahiki and Whisky Mist, Kanaloa recently opened on Shoe Lane, just off Fleet Street.

The City's newest Tiki bar, typically decked out in wicker and bamboo, offers 140 varieties of rum and an accompanying cocktail list as long as a yard of ale (Scorpion's Sling and Burning Spear are favourites, if only for the names). There's a kooky element with a wooden bridge and a treetop level that you can climb up to, but  — celebrity backers aside — the real USP is that it's female friendly. Not only do women not have to pay to get in, but they are treated to complementary manicures, massages and makeovers — which is no doubt why it's so popular with everybody from Cilla Black to Beyonce.
