Game on: Fever Pitch in Fulham

If you're winning you don't care where you are... but if you're not, you want to make sure it's happening in a good bar.

Fever Pitch, just off London's Fulham Broadway, is 'the UK's only World Cup dedicated pop-up bar' and a perfect venue for fans of the beautiful game. Created just for the tournament (it will turn into something else when it's all over), the bar can hold over 400 people. And for what is effectively a venue dedicated to sports fanatics, it's surprisingly nice.

There is, rather predictably, a large queue outside when I visit (it is England v Algeria) but once you're inside it's easy to move around and, unlike most sports bars, it doesn't make you feel like a sheep in a pen. The place is clean, bright, and plenty of staff mean you don't have to wait long to get served. There's also a BBQ outside serving steak, prawn kebabs and burgers. In short, Fever Pitch manages to keep the feeling of a typical busy sports bar — but with a bit of finesse.

Most important of all it's impossible not to be in sight of one of the large screens — there are 13 of them spanning 360°. See you there for more England games. Well, fingers crossed!
