Portugal Opening this month in Oporto, northern Portugal,
is The Yeatman, a new glitzy city retreat. Set in seven acres, it will have a gourmet restaurant focusing on Portuguese cuisine and wines, and a Vinothérapie Spa by Caudalie with a host
of treatments. The hotel overlooks the Douro river and has extensive gardens and
terraces, along with a decanter-shaped swimming pool.

The Goring in Belgravia for its weekly croquet games. The hotel originally opened in 1910 and will celebrate its 100th British summer with afternoon tea and croquet lessons on the lawn (22 July-26 August). The Goring is the only five-star hotel in London still owned and run by the family, the Gorings, who built it.
