The interior designer reveals her thoughts on hotels
Helen Green, Interior designer
Which of your work in hotels are you most proud of?
The Coral Reef Club in Barbados. I designed their spa, which really captures the island's spirit.
What makes a good hotel?
I like to stay in hotels that have exquisite surroundings. As a designer, I believe that hotels should reflect their location. So the suites I designed at London's Knightsbridge Berkeley are a real mix of luxury and style.
What is in vogue now?
True comfort. A relaxed space is much more appealing than the grandiose style of the 1990s.
What keeps guests coming back?
Service, service, service. I like to relax in the knowledge that every request will be graciously met.
Your favourite destination?
The Grenadines. Beautiful islands all a stone's throw from each other.
Your favourite hotel?
The newly refurbished Grand Hotel du Cap Ferrat for pure luxury and the most comfortable beds in the world.
