I made the best decision of my life when I was 13. I was desperate for a sunburst Telecaster guitar but the only one they had left was in cream — I went for it. It will never go out of style and to this day comes with me everywhere.
When I'm travelling with the band I always have my laptop. We write music when we're on the road or grab a moment to lay down some beats. My girlfriend is always haranguing me to bring back sweets from a trip. I saw some crazy confectionery in Japan, but decided to buy her a bizarre plastic phone instead.
I pack as many clean things as possible as it's hard to find a shower on the road. The schedule is relentless and everything gets a bit grimy. I'd go mad if I forgot my capo. It's a geeky music accessory that you clip onto a guitar to change the length of the string, which then changes the key.
I'm a massive Scotch egg fan. They're never on the onboard menu so I take my own. And I always eat every last mouthful of the aeroplane meals. I've been loving a new EP from Mammal Club and I'm listening to a lot of Dutch Uncle right now. Drake's album Thank Me Later is an interesting mix of hip-hop fare and really out there stuff.
Everything Everything's debut album Man Alive is out now.
