I grew up in Nashville, Tennessee, so I'm a real Southern belle. I have fond memories of growing up in the South and I can still turn the accent on so easily. I spend a lot of time cooking comfort food because it reminds me of my childhood. My speciality dish is macaroni and cheese, which my kids go crazy for, and I add my own Southern spin to it.
I recently fell for a secluded sleepy fishing village on the west coast of Mexico called Zihuatanejo. When I was there, I stayed at The Tides Hotel, which was pure bliss. Taking
a mini vacation anywhere in Mexico is one of my favourite things to do when I'm not working.
I'm a big fan of the Coachella Music Festival, which takes place in the desert in Palm Springs every April. Before I head off, I love to go for breakfast at the La Quinta Resort and Club. It always sets me up for a day of dancing.
I certainly believe in fate. I believe that
you are supposed to meet the people that
you meet in life. Amazingly, when I was in Florence one time, I met the people who
were my next-door neighbours in LA —
I'd never seen them before.
Since I travel so much for work, my beauty products have to be really efficient. My biggest extravagance is cosmetics and lotions. I'll buy anything that promises to erase lines on the skin. One
great product is Avon's Split Second Blush
— a blusher and lipstick in one, which you
can just pop into your handbag.
After working on location, you can't
beat that feeling of being back home
with family and friends. I always head to Ristorante di Giorgio Baldi in LA, which
is just off the Pacific Coast Highway in
Santa Monica. It's run by the Italian Baldi family whose signature sauces are famous around the world.
Watch Reese Witherspoon's latest film, Water for Elephants, which is showing on selected flights until the end of this month.
