I was born in Harlem, NYC, and grew up in Mount Vernon, Virginia. So those are my roots, the places that have helped make me into the man I am today.
Flying is a necessity these days and my busy schedule means it's a large part of my life. You've got to be a man on the move to make things happen - I've learnt that. Unfortunately, I rarely get to explore when I travel for work, business always comes first. If I'm on holiday, it's an entirely different story.
I'll never forget my Unforgivable party in St Tropez back in 2006. The whole experience was really incredible, from the land to the people, it was luxurious, sophisticated and sexy - just the way I like it.
I don't travel light. My trips are usually filled with so many different events that I need to be prepared for anything. I take my mother's advice - always look your best. A man must always be well-dressed as you never know who or what you'll encounter.
I go everywhere with a Dyptique candle. The scent of a good candle has a way of making me feel at home, even in the most foreign places. Scent has that way of bringing you to your senses, of calming and soothing you.
My work life is so hectic, so I think it's important to go on holiday with my family whenever I can, to have some proper downtime with my children. I'll do anything once. My kids have a lot of power over me. If they asked nicely, I'd do it.
My kind of holiday is all about luxury, preferably on a yacht, some place warm where I can just relax in the sun and tune out. I'm all about seeking the most pleasure out of life - working hard, playing hard - you can't forget the latter. But its also important to take care of yourself.
London is a great city. I love performing there. It has a good energy, baby.
