I sailed on the QE2 from New York to England when I was a student. I was in the Princeton University all-male a cappella group and we played in London. When we were there, it felt as if it rained more than it ever had since records began, but apart from that, London's a lovely city.

After the first series of Prison Break, I drove to LA through New Mexico. It was just me and a box of doughnuts, riding shotgun. I stopped off in Santa Fe, which is where hippies go to die. I thought I'd be anonymous, but when I pulled into a gas station in the backwoods of Idaho, I realised that they've got TVs there too. Now there's no more wandering into the next town for me, and putting on a French accent just for fun.

If you're going to Dallas, watch out for 'chiggers'. They're bugs that bite you before burrowing underneath your skin. I had about 20 of them up and down my legs when I was there. I went home looking like a pizza from the knees down. To get rid of them, you have to cover the inflamed spot with nail polish to seal the pores of the skin. The chiggers then suffocate and eventually dissolve into your bloodstream.

I was born in Chipping Norton, not too far outside Oxford. My dad was a Rhodes scholar at the time. As a result, I have dual citizenship.

Actors are only as good as the journeys and experiences they've had. If I have the choice between hanging out at the beach for two months or doing a well-paid gig that's going to do nothing for the audience or for me, then I'll choose the beach. Every time.

My mother is Russian, French, Syrian, Lebanese and Dutch. My father is African-American, Jamaican, British, German and part Cherokee. Today, the success of a show in the international market makes or breaks it. So with my heritage, I am well-qualified for the industry.

I'm fascinated with Australia. It has the largest concentration of deadly creatures in the world, in and out of the water. I went out there last Christmas to visit my youngest sister, who lives there.

Wentworth Miller stars in the series Prison Break on Sky One.
