I’ve been wanting to sample Prague’s Bohemian heritage, Gothic architecture and unique culture for a long time. Especially now that the stag parties have moved on. As an introduction to what promised to be an unforgettable weekend, I decided to paint the town red at the Duplex nightclub, where I danced the night away on the balcony overlooking the spectacular Wenceslas Square. Lunch the next day was at Bellevue restaurant. Regarded as Prague’s finest, it sits in the heart of the city and serves delicious cuisine in truly elegant surroundings with views of Charles Bridge and Prague Castle. Then it was time for a gala dinner at the Lobkowicz Palace in the grounds of Prague Castle. What can I say about this place? A black-tie dinner, prepared by (I’m told) Prague’s finest chefs, was served at the 16th-century palace surrounded by the works of Canaletto and Brueghel. Unforgettable. It was very hard to leave. When Franz Kafka said, ‘This city has claws,' he wasn’t wrong.
