Skincare on the go

March 2010

 / 1 of 1

When it comes to skincare on the go, less is definitely more — and if a product is going to earn its place in your suitcase, you’ve got to be sure it can do more than one job.

Origins’ new Drink-Up Mask (domestic £17, travel retail £14.45, origins.co.uk) is a perfect example of product multitasking: it can be used as an intensive moisturizer in the day — slather it on for the plane journey to combat dehydration — or left on overnight. Combine with a silk pillowcase and you’ll have all you need for a glowing complexion - devotees swear by Silksleep’s 100 per cent silk pillowcases (£32 each, silksleep.com) which help combat lined and stressed skin by preventing moisture loss. The pillowcases fold up beautifully so they’re great for a long journey, and the silk’s natural hypoallergenic qualities mean they’re perfect for sensitive skin too.

You can also do away with bulky bottles of shower gel, shampoo and conditioner and replace with an all-in-one, such as Evolve’s Daily Apple Hair and Body Wash (£7.99, evolvebeauty.co.uk). Evolve’s newly-launched organic beauty range is based on the premise that whatever goes on your skin should be good enough to eat, so you can expect superfood ingredients such as Goji berries and Peruvian Inca Inchi oil, both of which are highly nutritious as well as good for your skin.
Another option is to ditch the creams and potions entirely and make the switch to beauty supplements. Caudalie’s Vinexpert Nutritional Supplements (£21, caudalie.com), newly launched this month, contain potent nutrients and natural ingredients taken from the vine to protect against ageing. Take two capsules a day and you’ll get the same amount of resveratrol as you’d get from two glasses of wine (which is said to firm skin), and the results are diminished wrinkles and tauter skin.

Finally, Perricone MD Super Berry supplements (£41 for 30, perriconemd.co.uk) also help fight ageing by protecting the skin from free radical damage. The pick-me-up drink contains high levels of blueberries, acai, cranberries and raspberries to up your antioxicant levels — and it’ll keep you hydrated on the plane.
