SHOWstudio: Fashion Revolution

Somerset House launches itself as fashion HQ today with the start of London Fashion Week, but for those of us who haven't quite managed to get front-row seats (they always looked pretty cramped to me anyway) there is another way: 'SHOWstudio: Fashion Revolution'.

Firstly, forget any old-school notions of fashion being restricted to mere cloth - 'Fashion Revolution', like SHOWstudio.com's website, is devoted to exploring not just fashion, but the creative process behind it, largely through film and photography. The show itself is a mixture of some of the site's best archive work, some newly commissioned films and a series of live fashion shoots and events featuring London's beau monde (today Nick Knight teaches supermodel Erin O'Connor how to be a fashion photographer).

The contributors list reads like a fashion Who's Who — John Galliano, Alexander McQueen, Kate Moss et al sprinkled with a few wildcards (step forward Heston Blumenthal) — but most of the buzz seems to be about a 25-foot high interactive sculpture of Naomi Campbell. Best go and see for yourself if you want to find out what that involves.
