Aqua Fahrenheit, Dior
Turning up the heat with its fiery red, black and ochre bottle, Dior's Aqua Fahrenheit is a fusion of the elements fire and water.  It reflects this juxtaposition by smelling spicy and exotic yet maintaining a certain lightness, which ensures that it is not overwhelming. (dior.com, £55 for 125ml)

Happy, Clinique
Happiness is simplicity, and this is reflected in the minimalist design of this Clinique fragrance bottle. Its citrusy scent is reminiscent of carefree summer holidays spent lounging in the Mediterranean. (clinique.co.uk, £42 for 100ml)

Optimistic, Paul Smith
Optimistic is an energetic and playful scent that serves as an instant mood enhancer. Top notes of sweet, sharp citrus, pepper and cardamom combine with a base of cedar, vetiver and amber to make for an unusual but enticing scent. (paulsmith.co.uk, £49 for 100ml)

Bang Bang, Marc Jacobs
Masculine and assertive Bang Bang, the follow up to Marc Jacobs' Bang, demands attention. The cobalt blue packaging is on-trend and the fracture lines on the bottle reflect the dynamism and energy of the scent. Bang Bang offers a little bit of luxury, containing a base note of cashmere musk. (marcjacobs.com, £51 for 100ml)

DKNY, DKNY
Light and clean, DKNY is more sophisticated, and less stereotypically macho, than many contemporary male perfumes.  With notes of tangerine-ginger, crisp ivy leaf, juniper berry and cool white spice it smells like a breath of fresh air, perfect for autumnal evenings. (dkny.com, £45 for 100ml)

Untitled L'Eau, Maison Martin Margiela
Despite being called Untitled L'Eau (meaning water), its scent is not as neutral as might be expected; it is vibrant smelling and has a lemony kick to it. The bottle is classically French and simply elegant. The emphasis is placed on the perfume rather than the packaging, which works well as its scent is delicious enough not to need much adornment.

Tom Ford, Neroli Portofino
Escape to a summertime forest with Tom Ford's latest triumph. A bitter-sweet blend of neroli, mandarin and lemons with a sprinkling of spearmint, this fragrance, housed in a chic teal and gold bottle, smells almost good enough to eat. (Available at most department stores including harrods.com and selfridges.com, £120.00 for 50ml)
