THE ULTIMATE PRIZE WINNER

Congratulations to Maria de la Guardia, who has won our Travel Photography Competition, run in association with Small Luxury Hotels of the World (SLH). Launched in January, the competition has seen thousands of entries, but our panel of judges was most impressed by Maria's photo (above), taken in Bangladesh.

High Life picture editor and judge Lucy Perceval said: 'The photo is "real". It leads you in and makes you curious about this man, where he is and what he's up to. And what was in those sacks? There's a friendly spirit in his eyes. It's a portrait of a kind, but with all those material textures, it seems almost like a landscape.'

Maria has won the chance to go on a photography assignment with a High Life photographer and they will be staying at one of SLH's luxurious boutique hotels or resorts. Olympus PEN Lite cameras were also won by Maria and five runners-up. 'I'm very excited,' said Maria, 28, from London. 'It's amazing to have won such a fantastic prize.'
