Air Berlin has now joined British Airways as one of oneworld's member airlines. From this month, BA customers will be able to enjoy a more convenient travel experience when they fly to and from Berlin. Berlin Tegel airport will be closing and from 3 June* all flights to and from Berlin will operate from the new airport, Berlin Brandenburg.

Berlin Brandenburg becomes the sole airport for Berlin, which will ensure simpler onward connections for customers who are continuing their journey from Berlin. The airline's hubs are Berlin, Düsseldorf, Palma de Mallorca and Vienna. Other oneworld member airlines include American Airlines, Iberia, Cathay Pacific, Finnair, Japan Airlines, LAN, Qantas, Royal Jordanian and S7.

*This news item in the June issue of High Life mentions the original scheduled opening date for Berlin Brandenburg Airport (and closure date of Berlin Tegel). The opening date has since been delayed until 17 March 2013 due to technical difficulties.
