New York Fashion Week will be transformed this autumn when the bi-annual fashion shows and celebrity-sighting phenomenon moves from its 16-year home in Bryant Park to Lincoln Center's Damrosch Park. The new location, known more for its performing arts scene than haute couture, is quite the departure from the show's former Garment District stomping ground.
Gone are the large white tents in the almost block-long Bryant Park. Instead, the spring collection will take place 9-16 September in more spacious, chic venues called The Theatre, The Stage, The Box and The Studio. Each will be high-tech digital and some feature adjustable runways plus stadium-style bench seats.
Visitors are set to flock to the new shops and restaurants coming to the area, such as former Per Se chef Jonathan Benno's Italian eatery, as well as Food Hall by Todd English, housed in the Plaza Hotel. There's nothing like a makeover to get the fashion world talking.
