Designers whose work includes the London 2012 Olympic torch
EB: 'For me, it has to be the Trellick Tower at the end of Golborne Road. A 32-storey brutal high rise designed by Erno Goldfinger, it's an incredibly striking piece and you either love it or hate it. I lived on the 22nd floor and there were great views across the whole of London. Golborne Road is one of those streets that doesn't really change, which is quite unusual for London. It has Portuguese coffee shops, Moroccan restaurants serving spicy tagines and a great flea market on a Friday morning.'
JO: 'Greenwich Park gives you a spectacular view over London: the Thames, the Olympic Park and there's a real contrast between Christopher Wren's architecture and the rest of the city. You get people doing all sorts of things: Rollerblading, performing t'ai chi, playing musical instruments. It really shows the diversity there is in London.'

Tom Dixon
British designer
'It has to be the Thames. It passes by so many disparate epochs and historic sights: Eel Pie Island, Battersea Power Station, Hammersmith Bridge, the magnificent brutality of the Hayward Gallery, the Houses of Parliament and the neogothic Tower Bridge. It's a thrilling sight — and all visible from the air when you swoop into London by plane.'

Timothy Jacob Jensen
Industrial designer and strategist
'Speakers' Corner, Hyde Park isn't so much a design landmark, but a unique spot that's known the world over. It is democratic and represents a really important value in culture and in design.'

Yves Behar
Industrial designer and founder of the San Francisco-based fuseproject
'When I'm in London, I always visit the Design Museum. It's the best place in the world to find contemporary design.'

Amanda Levete
Architect
'I know Kensington Gardens better than anywhere else. As a student I walked to college through the park; as a mum I spent my weekends there watching my son play football; and as an architect I still go each day to run and get inspired. The parks are what make London the magical place it is. They are the life blood of our city.'

Martin Brudnizki
Designer
'The Millbank Tower is one of my favourite landmarks. The Diablo shape of the tower sets it apart from all the other tall mid- to late-20th-century buildings'

The London Design Festival (londondesignfestival.com) runs 17-25 September and will feature 250 events by top designers.
