Museum of Everything

Start to feel festive
Christmas comes early at the Hyde Park Winter Wonderland, from 21 November. There’ll be German food and drink stalls serving winter warmers such as roast hog and Glühwein, fairground rides and the chance to meet Santa. Free admission. hydeparkwinterwonderland.com

Alternative art
The Museum of Everything, a new gallery housed in a former dairy and recording studio in Primrose Hill, features over 200 pieces of rarely seen work by artists living outside mainstream society. Created by collector James Brett, it’s open until Christmas and entrance is free. musevery.com

Films for the family
Kids of all ages will enjoy the silver screen at The London Children’s Film Festival, from 21 to 29 November. Held at the Barbican Centre and cinemas across the city, expect the best new international children’s films, as well as workshops, competitions and special events. londonchildrenfilm.org.uk

Watch London light up
Catch the fireworks that mark the end of the annual Lord Mayor’s Show on the Thames between Waterloo and Blackfriars bridges on 14 November at 5pm. Not strictly a Bonfire Night celebration, it’s still one of the best firework displays on the capital’s calendar.

It's magic
Pick up some tricks of the trade at the annual international magic and variety show at the Mermaid Theatre on 28-29 November. Illusionists, variety acts and magicians join forces to create a mind-boggling weekend. Internationalmagic.com

Galleries galore
See the new Medieval and Renaissance Galleries at the V&A from 14 November. They document European art and design between 300AD and 1600AD. vam.ac.uk

Clown around
La Clique opens at the Roundhouse for the winter season this month with its unusual brand of circus delights. 20 November- 17 January 2010. lacliquelondon.com
