The Earthshot Prize backs ambitious climate leadership
The Earthshot Prize 2025
In 2024, British Airways partnered with The Earthshot Prize as a Global Alliance Member to help discover, support and scale innovative solutions to the world’s most pressing environmental challenges.
Founded by William, Prince of Wales in 2020, The Earthshot Prize – an impactful and prestigious environmental award – is driving a bold, decade-long mission to accelerate environmental action and create global change.
The Earthshot Prize identifies, celebrates and backs ambitious climate leadership from every corner of the globe. From Indigenous communities to city leaders, entrepreneurs to governments, all are working to solve our planet’s greatest challenges.
The prize focuses on five key Earthshots: Clean Our Air, Fix Our Climate, Revive Our Oceans, Build a Waste-Free World, and Protect and Restore Nature. Each year, five of the world’s most pioneering environmental change-makers and their teams are honoured for their work.
British Airways has actively supported previous winners and finalists, including investing in alternative fuels with Lanzajet, participating in trials to remove single-use plastics with Notpla and working to introduce electric vehicle tyres with ENSO.
Inspired by the partnership and to celebrate this year’s awards ceremony in Rio de Janeiro, British Airways has crafted a selection of more sustainable dishes, featuring locally sourced ingredients and innovative food processing methods developed by 2024 Earthshot Prize Finalist Ferment’Up. These dishes are available on all flights to and from Brazil throughout November.

The new Miami lounge (also opening image)
New lounges unveiled
British Airways has unveiled its new lounge design concept, with new openings in Miami International Airport and Dubai International Airport. The designs blend the airline’s British style with the locality of each destination, with inspiration taken from the Art Deco features of Miami and a modern interpretation of the traditional Mashrabiya pattern in Dubai. Both lounges feature full-service bars, menus that champion local ingredients with a British twist, as well as the exclusive Concorde Dining Rooms.
These openings are the latest part of the airline’s £7bn transformation programme, with significant recent investment in lounges, such as the refreshes at London Gatwick, Lagos, Singapore, Seattle and Washington Dulles.
Access to the lounges is available to British Airways customers travelling in Club World (business class) or First, members of The British Airways Club with Silver status and above and oneworld customers with Sapphire status and above.
