Whiteley’s Bar at Six Senses London. Opening image: the pool and spa area
Six Senses London, London
When Six Senses London opened earlier this year, it was the talk of the town. The first UK outpost of the hotel brand is in the former Whiteley’s emporium in Bayswater, a stone’s throw from Hyde Park and Notting Hill. The department store has been meticulously transformed into a 109-room hotel, where the Art Deco-meets-biophilic design and bang-up-to-date amenities catapult it into five-star territory. Wellness is front and centre. To name a few, spa highlights include a quartz crystal bed, a sensory suite, a Biohack Recovery Lounge and a swimming pool that is surely the most elegant in the capital. There’s even an Alchemy Bar, where botanical tinctures and tonics are made from foraged herbs. Whiteley’s Kitchen (take a table in the sunny courtyard when the weather is favourable) offers a vegetable-forward menu of sharing plates – there’s even a gluten-free bread trolley. In the bar, cocktails are created to work with or without alcohol.
British Airways Holidays offers two nights from £749pp, for travel on selected dates from 1-31 October 2026 inclusive. Includes economy (Euro Traveller) return flights from Edinburgh Airport, one checked bag per person and accommodation. Book by 31 August 2026. Superior Double Room at Ikos Olivia
Ikos Olivia, Halkidiki
There’s a reason why there are so many devotees of Ikos, the hotel-resort brand that has redefined the all-inclusive with its luxury beachfront resorts. With no big decisions to make and no eye-watering end-of-the-holiday bills, it’s pure bliss. Blessed with rugged natural beauty and near continual sunshine, Halkidiki – the three-fingered peninsula that juts into the Aegean – is one of northern Greece’s most enchanting destinations. It’s here you’ll find Ikos Olivia, set amid 22 acres of olive groves and cypress pines, in the seaside village of Gerakini. Rooms, suites and bungalows are a soothing mix of earthy palettes and natural materials, but do venture out to explore the uncrowded shoreline, the Ikos Spa by Anne Sémonin and the packed programme of activities from sunrise yoga to aqua aerobics. Six restaurants offer à la carte options curated by Michelin-star chefs in alfresco settings. Throughout, expect nothing-is-too-much-effort staff, whether that means waiter service by the pool or complimentary childcare on the beach, all at no extra cost.

Little Good Harbour boutique hotel sits in a quiet fishing village
Little Good Harbour, Barbados
Barbados may be just 21 miles by 14 miles in size, but it packs a (rum) punch. Sugar-soft beaches and translucent coves line the coast, while the jungly interior is home to green monkeys and hummingbirds. Tucked away in a sleepy fishing village on the lesser-visited northwest shore, this low-key, high-charm boutique hotel is a lesson in easygoing Caribbean hospitality. Stay in a breezy oceanfront suite or one of the coral-stone cottages dotted around the garden, where décor is all plantation shutters, rattan furniture and tropical prints. It’s a languid pace of life, spent swimming in the shady pools or snorkelling off the jetty, with nature walks, historic sites and botanical plantations nearby. Most of what lands on the plate at The Fish Pot restaurant is caught locally, whether that’s mahi-mahi served with Cajun roasted potatoes or the signature shellfish broil featuring prawns, crab claws, clams and mussels.

A Premium Room by the beach at Rixos Radamis
Rixos Radamis, Egypt
The grand, porticoed entrance and double-height marble lobby of Rixos Radamis, which overlooks Nabq Bay in Sharm El Sheikh, set the tone. This sprawling resort is on an epic scale. The numbers speak for themselves: 1,650-plus rooms, suites and villas, 15 restaurants, eight bars… But don’t for a minute imagine this means it’s impersonal or cookie-cutter. Staff are delightful, the décor sings, and there is never a dull moment. The tropical pool at The Palms Hotel & Spa
The Palms Hotel & Spa, Miami
