Football is everywhere right now. So, while you’re grabbing your team shirt, getting the snacks in and corralling your mates, why not snag a ton of Avios while you’re at it? Read on to discover our tips and tricks to transform your everyday football activities into Avios rewards. Don’t score an own goal this summer, score more Avios.
1. Live your best living room life
The best view in the house is often the one with the most cushions. So if you’re planning on watching the games from your sofa, chilled drink in hand and crisps at the ready, why not collect Avios while you’re at it? Stock up your fridge with your weekly groceries and your football-watching favourites by shopping online with Sainsbury’s, with whom new customers can collect up to 800 Avios per shop. Drinks are a doozy, too: buy from The Wine Flyer to have Chardonnay, Shiraz and Chablis delivered to your door, saving you the aisle-loitering indecision and collecting up to 5 Avios per £1 while you’re at it.

2. Feed the fans
Have friends incoming for an afternoon of kicking back while the match kicks off? Lighten the hosting load by ordering in HelloFresh’s meal packages – they do the hard work for you while you take the credit. You even collect up to 900 bonus Avios if you’re a first-time customer.
3. Freshen up your kit
If the on-pitch antics are inspiring you to dig out your gym kit for the first time this year (hey, we’re not judging), we suggest ditching that back-of-the-wardrobe scent and sprucing up your gear. Fresh socks, shorts and kicks are all just a click away thanks to the likes of Nike, Sports Direct and Foot Locker. Keen to recreate the beautiful game in the back garden? Grab a goal, some shin pads and a fresh ball from Decathlon, which will not only boost your heart rate, but will add to your Avios balance, too – by 1 Avios per £1 spent when buying through the Avios Shop.

Kick back with a glass of Pale Pig; or treat yourself to a new kit – both are ways to collect Avios
4. Tune up your tech
All football fans know you can’t afford to miss a second of the game. It’s imperative to have the best set-up possible for match day, so get the clearest picture and pin-drop sound by ensuring your tech is up to date. Perhaps add a soundbar – such as the LG SQM1 Compact Bluetooth Soundbar from John Lewis & Partners – which will help catch every comment from the ref, or maybe finally swap out your old 32in screen for a 50in, such as the Sharp 4K Ultra LED from Currys so you can see the back of the net in high def. Maybe it’s as simple as popping on some Bluetooth noise-cancelling headphones such as the AirPods Pro 3 from the Apple Store so you can enjoy every second undistracted. Whatever tech tweak works best for you, collect Avios on all of them by buying them through the Avios Shop.
5. Renew your subscriptions
Surely you can’t collect Avios simply by watching football, right? Wrong. Depending on your subscription, signing up to Sky TV or broadband can collect you between 1,000 and 6,500 Avios direct to your account for enjoying all your usual entertainment. Like to keep up to date with the latest news and interviews from your favourite players? Make subscriptions to the likes of FourFourTwo and Match work for you by signing up through magazine.co.uk, which will reward you with 400 Avios.

6. Give your gear a glow up
If you’re not wearing your team shirt when watching the game, did it even happen? Now is the perfect time to upgrade your kit, so you can be suitably attired once the match kicks off. Arsenal and Spurs fans can enjoy collecting up to 8 Avios per £1 on any purchases made through the Avios Shop, while the UK Soccer Shop sports everything from international team tops to headwear and hoodies.
7. Get to the game
We love a Spidercam as much as the next fan, but there’s really nothing quite like being there IRL. So, if you’ve got annual leave locked in to see your team hit the pitch for real, make sure you reap the rewards for doing so. Travelling by train? Book your tickets through TrainPal to collect 2 Avios per £1, or, if you’re taking the car, fuel up on petrol and snacks at bp stations, where BPme Rewards points can be converted into Avios (25 Avios for every 40 BPme Rewards points). Team playing away from home? Don’t forget you’ll always collect Avios on every British Airways flight you take. Simply log in to your British Airways Club account, purchase your tickets through BA.com, and watch the Avios – and the goals – roll in.
