Penthouse Suite at Calabash Hotel
Calabash Hotel
Grenada, Caribbean
Out-of-season sunshine? Welcome to Grenada. This Caribbean island is tropical warm, so you’ll want to be by the sea – and Calabash Hotel has a prime position, tucked into sheltered Prickly Bay on the quieter south coast. You can tell a good establishment by its return guests and here there are many, warmly welcomed by the Garbutt family, who have run the hotel since 1987. With just 30 suites but four times as many staff, you’ll be known by name rather than room number. A place for formality this is not, even when you’re feasting at the fine-dining Rhodes restaurant which, along with the hotel’s mellow Beach Club and contemporary Japanese eatery Nori, often finds itself on ‘best places to dine in Grenada’ lists. Spend your days between a hammock strung up beneath palm trees on the beach and the infinity pool. Though the laidback spa, with its honey and moringa facials and deep-tissue back massages, might demand a slice of your attention. There’s tennis, a gym, yoga and watersports for the energetic.

The Ocean Restaurant at Daios Cove (also opening image)
Daios Cove
Crete, Greece
Daios Cove wraps around its own turquoise inlet, just south of the lively waterfront towns of Elounda and Agios Nikolaos. The Cretan resort is built sympathetically into the hillside (honey-coloured stone, terraced gardens) and the Aegean Sea plays a lead role in the design. You can see it from every one of the 280+ spacious, light-flooded rooms, suites and villas, many of which have a private pool. It’s also the backdrop to the 60m saltwater infinity pool and the outstanding Kēpos by Goco. This 2,500sqm wellness sanctuary has quietly become known as one of Greece’s best holistic spas, where a team of doctors and therapists offer everything from cryotherapy to cosmeceutical facials, vitamin infusions to sound healing. It’s not all detox. You can retox quite comfortably in one of the restaurants and bars, with highlights including Pangea’s à la carte-esque buffet and the modern-classic Greek menu at Taverna. A deux? Book dinner at adults-only RHO. Laidback beats and cocktails are the order of the evening at Crystal Box.
British Airways Holidays offers up to 20 per cent hotel savings on selected room types: Deluxe Sea View Room and Deluxe Sea View Individual Pool Room. Valid for travel from 20 April–7 November 2026. The vast outdoor pool at The View Agadir
The View Agadir
Agadir, Morocco
The low-slung, natural-stone entrance to The View Agadir gives little away as to what views actually lie beyond. The hotel has a prime position on the resort town’s seafront promenade, affording an uninterrupted panorama of palm trees, golden sand and the Atlantic. The 300 days of sunshine a year mean you’ll want to be on the secluded beach, where staff weave between loungers bearing ice-cold drinks, or by one of the lagoon-shaped swimming pools. The turquoise design accents in the 272 rooms and suites – all of which come with a balcony or terrace – echo the watery paradise. The many restaurants cater to all tastes, from breakfast at Le V through to Italian at Le Sensya, pan-Asian at Buddha-Bar and Latin fusion at Nazka. Or follow a lantern-lit path to Mima for delicately spiced tagines. This being Morocco, the spa does a good hammam, as well as a marble steam room and serene subterranean pool. Afterwards, order a pot of atay, a fragrant green tea infused with fresh spearmint, at the Chay Lounge.
British Airways Holidays offers up to ten per cent hotel savings for stays from 2 February–31 August 2026. (Blackout dates apply from 15 July–31 August 2026.) Book by 28 February 2026. Moments Lobby Bar at Dreams Madeira Resort, Spa & Marina
Dreams Madeira Resort, Spa & Marina
Caniçal, Portugal
Stay at the refurbed Dreams Madeira Resort, Spa & Marina and you’ll rarely want to leave, despite it being a short drive from the cobblestone beauty of Funchal and mountainous hiking trails. The oceanfront retreat, all white-washed walls and terracotta roofs, perches on the pristine Caniçal coast, inviting you to lean into easy-going seaside living. While away your days beneath the shade of a parasol on the pebble beach and by the quartet of swimming pools – kids will squeal with delight whizzing down the slides at the Splash Park. The Explorers’ Club and the Core Zone Teens’ Club keep ages four to 17 happy, while grownups can sail-scuba-SUP-surf-waterski and recalibrate in the spa. The Ritz-Carlton Tenerife, Abama

The largest of Spain’s Canary Islands is a destination where you’ll open the blinds each morning to a cloudless, cerulean sky. Playa Abama is a short walk or funicular ride away. You’ve access to an 18-hole championship golf course, a tennis academy, cycling centre and kids’ club. Eight restaurants and two bars cover off eating and drinking. Will it be Basque-inspired two-Michelin-starred M.B, modern Japanese at Akira Back Tenerife, poolside tapas at Txoko or fresh-from-the-Med fish at clifftop El Mirador?
