Partnering with the African Wildlife Foundation
British Airways has joined forces with the African Wildlife Foundation (AWF) to intensify the fight against illegal wildlife trafficking at Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA). As a primary transit hub, JKIA is a critical frontline for conservation efforts. To bolster security, British Airways has facilitated the training and deployment of two specialist Belgian Malinois contraband detection dogs, along with 21 Kenya Wildlife Service handlers.
These dogs are specifically trained to identify illegal animal products in cargo and baggage, significantly increasing the deterrent against smuggling. By combining advanced canine training with increased personnel capacity, this initiative aims to increase the likelihood of successful convictions and ensure that Africa’s endangered species are better protected from the risks of illegal trade.

Honouring 50 years of Concorde
To celebrate five decades since Concorde’s first commercial departure, British Airways is marking the milestone with an exclusive range of collectibles. The Royal Mint has unveiled a new UK 50p coin featuring a sleek design by Osborne Ross that depicts two Concordes flying in tandem over a map with the aircraft’s name styled like a classic airport flight board. The coins are available in several editions, including Gold Proof and Silver Proof, and come accompanied by technical histories and personal flight stories written by veteran Concorde pilot John Tye.
In addition, Royal Mail has released two unique stamp collections. One set features eight first-class stamps with stunning photography of the fleet in flight, including the famous four-aircraft formation. The second is a special miniature sheet that breathes new life into the original 1969 ‘First Flight’ designs, now updated to feature the silhouette of Charles III.
